Notice to the Industry - Progress Update on the Unification of Standardbred Horse Persons’ Associations

The October 2013 report issued by the Horse Racing Industry Transition Panel and accepted by government recommended the establishment of a single standardbred horse persons’ association for all of the Alliance racetracks.

For more than a year, the existing standardbred horse persons’ associations have been working with Ontario Horse Racing, a division of the Ontario Racing Commission (ORC) to implement this recommendation of the Panel.

The time has come to present the plan for governance and operations of the new organization to the standardbred horse people.

Over the coming weeks, the leadership of your current standardbred horse persons’ associations, along with representatives from the ORC where available, will be out discussing and answering your questions regarding the new organization.  Watch for meetings to be held in your local districts or in the paddock at your local track.

During the same time, we will be seeking nominations for the inaugural Board for the new organization.  An invitation to submit nominations will be posted on-line and in various locations in the coming days.

We look forward to sharing with you the vision for the re-unification of standardbred horse persons’ representation in the province.
